Clean Energy Credit Union's mission is to promote clean energy, environmental stewardship, and cooperative enterprises through the financial services we provide to our members.

In pursuing its mission, Clean Energy Credit Union accelerates consumers’ adoption of clean energy by offering customized loans that are specifically tailored to – and that reduce the cost of – clean energy products and services.

Clean Energy Credit Union also makes it easy for everyone to directly invest in the clean energy movement by offering deposit opportunities that have low minimum thresholds (e.g. $5) and that are federally insured (i.e. lower risk than other investment opportunities, and don’t require sophisticated financial expertise or due diligence).

Ultimately, we want to make it easier for everyone to use and to invest in clean energy in order to help protect our environment and improve our economy.

Horrible Loan Experience And Android App

I had a CD account worth 60,000 USD with them. I had a series of life-altering events which depleted the money that I set aside for emergency, so I applied for an EV auto loan with Clean Energy CU for 20,000 USD to replace the car and pay it off when my CD account matures in 3 months. To my surprise, I was denied with FICO at 750 and no debt! I'd admit that I lost my prev job due to a series of medical events and now make 4500 a month instead of the 6 fig job that I used to have.It appears they only consider my current income to make the decision despite having my 60,000 USD locked there. Additionally, Clean Energy CU was having so much trouble verifying my identity because their android app refused to accept my REAL ID. I was asked to do a video call just to do a domestic wire to my other bank account. I do not feel appreciated/valued by them. I do NOT recommend them.

Excellent Loan

Shopped around for solar loans and I think people don't realize that other lenders inflate the cost of solar with fees or hidden points. CECU do not do this! The even provide a bridge loan for the tax credit so that you're ultimately only making payments on the net cost of solar.

Clean Energy Credit Union is the best bank I have ever had. And it actually does good in the world!

I LOVE banking at clean energy credit union - it's banking as it should be. First, it's a financial model I can actually understand - I keep my money in the bank, and they use my funds to finance solar panels and other clean energy loans. Simple, and amazing! Second, I love that it's small enough to get really personal customer service, from real people. My favorite customer service rep gave me his direct extension, and now I talk to the same person every time! Where else can you get that? The website and app work great for everything I need, and there are also a ton of shared branches at credit unions all over the country, so if you want to go into the bank in-person, they have you covered. Seriously, move your money from your big bank over to here. You'll be so glad you did, both for yourself and for the good your money is doing in the world.

customer service works great

one of the very few banks out there which is truly climate friendly. boasts a very high APY on checking account with direct deposit, as well as on CDs. customer support has been nothing but friendly and helpful. never had an issue mobile depositing checks. only thing is ATMs with cash withdrawal are hard to find in my location.

Unresponsive, miserable application process

I tried to get a solar project financed through them - recommended by the solar company. Their software for downloading my financial information was archaic, to say the least, and I had to send my financials FIVE TIMES before they received them - then they wouldn't answer my calls/emails to confirm that they had gotten them. Very unsettling knowing all my personal data was floating around in the ether and not knowing if or who was seeing it. I'd really recommend you go somewhere else.
